2011/10/20

On October 20, 2011, China and Russia held their sixth round of strategic security consultations in Beijing. Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo and Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev co-chaired the consultations. This is another consultation meeting since the last in January as new major changes have taken place in the international and regional situation. Both sides had an effective, in-depth exchange of views on bilateral ties and major international and regional issues.

The two sides stressed that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the signing of the Sino-Russian Good-Neighborly Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation. President Hu Jintao paid a successful visit to Russia. The two heads of state comprehensively summarized development experience and results of the China-Russia relations over the past decade, identified the development course of bilateral ties for the next ten years and worked out cooperation plans in specific areas. Both sides should fully implement the consensus reached by the two heads of state, persistently increase political mutual trust, push forward the China-Russia comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, safeguard their sovereignty, security and development interests, and promote world peace and stability.
