Notice of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The People's Republic of China

According to Article 139 of the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, "The Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region may apply immigration controls on entry into, stay in and departure from the Region by persons from foreign states or regions".

The Public Security Police Force of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, in its press communiqué dated 1 June 2010, announced that starting from 1 July 2010, the citizens of Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Vietnam, except the designated ones, shall apply for and obtain an entry visa before entering the Macao Special Administrative Region and the practice of visa on arrival shall no longer apply to them. The citizens of the above six countries traveling to the Macao Special Administrative Region are kindly requested to visit the website of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region and learn about the details of the visa arrangements in a timely manner.

To support the implementation of the new visa arrangements of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, starting from 1 July 2010, the overseas diplomatic and consular missions and offices of the People's Republic of China and the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will receive and process the visa applications from the citizens of the above six countries traveling to the Macao Special Administrative Region.
