On the evening of March 4, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi held a telephone conversation with Nabil al-Arabi, secretary-general of the Arab League (AL).

Yang introduced China's latest six-point statement for the political solution to the Syrian issue. Yang said China supports efforts by Arab countries and the AL in promoting a political solution to the Syrian issue. The foreign minister also said China is willing to conduct thorough consultations with all concerned parties.

For his part, al-Arabi said he appreciated and highly regarded the statement, which was comprehensive and positive. The international community, al-Arabi said, should fully take the statement into account in its efforts to find a political solution to the Syrian issue.

Yang and the AL leader also agreed to continue their communication and coordination.
