2011/09/20

On September 19, 2011, Vice Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang met with Chairman of the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC) Sir David Brewer in Ziguangge, Zhongnanhai.

Li expressed admiration on the efforts made by the CBBC to promote the development of China-Britain economic and trade relations. He said that the bilateral pragmatic cooperation in various fields moves forward steadily with the concerted efforts of both sides and the bilateral relations have stepped into a new stage of mature, healthy and stable growth.

He pointed out that China and Britain are in different development stages and enjoy strong complementarities of trade and mutual investment and huge potential of cooperation. China is implementing the 12th Five-Year Plan and will accelerate the change of economic growth mode, actively expand domestic demand, further open up and support domestic enterprises to "go abroad" and participate in international cooperation. In particular, China will boost the development of service industry. The two countries share a vast space of cooperation and should create conditions for our business cooperation and expand the size and increase the effectiveness of such cooperation constantly.

Brewer noted that the CBBC will continue to strengthen business in China and make contributions to promoting the stable development of Britain-China economic and trader relations.

Chairman of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Wan Jifei was present at the meeting.
