On March 24, 2010, Vice Foreign Minster Song Tao met in Beijing with President of Jinan University Hu Jun and accepted the letter of appointment of the university’s Board of Trustees Vice Chairman.

During the meeting, Song felt deeply honored of being appointed to Jinan University’s Board of Trustees and said that with a long history Jinan University has been committed to disseminating Chinese culture and promoting foreign exchanges. Following the philosophy of “promoting teaching spirit and connecting overseas Chinese”, it has trained a large number of talented students for China and the rest of the world and played a unique role of advancing the reunification of the motherland and the overseas Chinese affairs. He expressed hope that Jinan University will continuously make innovations and create greater glories and noted that the foreign ministry will as always support the university. Hu Jun extended gratitude to Song and introduced to him the current development and future plan of Jinan University.
