On June 10, the Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands hosts the 2026 commemorative event to mark the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations at the Peace Palace, the seat of the International Court of Justice. More than 200 guests attended the event, including representatives of international organizations such as the Deputy Director-General of the OPCW, members of the diplomatic corps in the Netherlands, including ambassadors from more than 20 countries such as Russia, South Africa and Indonesia, Representatives from international organizations, Dutch government officials and friends from various sectors. H.E. Shen Bo, Chinese Ambassador to the Netherlands, attended the event and delivered remarks.

Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi delivered a video address during the event. He introduced the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI) put forth by President Xi Jinping, and called for promoting dialogue among civilizations from four perspectives: mutual respect, putting the people first, heritage and innovation, as well as exchanges and mutual learning. The Ambassador of South Africa to the Netherlands delivered remarks, speaking highly of China’s efforts in promoting dialogue among civilization. He called on all parties to support the four global initiatives put forth by China and jointly build a community with a shared future for mankind.

By enjoying the painting exhibition co-organized by the Chinese Embassy and the State Council Information Office of China, as well as the art exhibition presented by the Zhejiang Province, guests experienced the unique appeal of exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.
