On January 23, H.E. Ambassador Mr SHEN Bo, the newly appointed Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons(OPCW), presented his Letter of Credentials to OPCW Director-General H.E. Mr Fernando Arias. The two sides had a friendly exchange on strengthening cooperation between China and the OPCW.

Ambassador Shen stated that China is a staunch defender of and a positive stabilizing force for multilateralism. As a founding State Party to the Chemical Weapons Convention, China will continue to conduct high-level cooperation with the OPCW to promote stronger unity and cooperation to achieve common development. Director-General Arias welcomed Ambassador Shen to his new post, expressing the OPCW's willingness to strengthen cooperation with China to jointly address challenges.

The two sides exchanged views on hotspot issues of common concern, and Ambassador Shen elaborated China’s position on issues such as the Chemical Weapons Abandoned by Japan in the Territory of China.
