China Film Festival 2009 to be Held in The Hague and Delft

From 5 to 7 May, ''China Film Festival 2009'' will be held in The Hague and Delft. In the meantime, seven selected Chinese films including Forever Enthralled, Assembly, Super Typhoon, Painted Skin, IP Man, Gun of Mercy and Maimaiti's 2008 will be presented.

On 5 May, the opening ceremony of the festival will be held in the city hall of The Hague and the film Forever Enthralled will be presented afterwards in Cinema Pathé. The film Forever Enthralled, which is one of the competition films at 59th Berlin Film Festival in 2009, tells about the legendary life of Mr. Mei Lanfang (1894-1961), the famous master of Peking Opera for playing female roles and the first artist to introduce Peking Opera to the world. The film explores the emotional and spiritual world of the great master, through Mr. Mei's contest with his rival Swallow 13, unforgettable experience with his lover Ms. Meng Xiaodong and so on. The film is directed by Mr. Chen Kaige, a worldwide famous film director. Mr. Chen is known for his Golden Palm-winning movie Farewell My Concubine at Cannes in 1993. During the opening ceremony, Mr. Chen and his main team members of the film will be introduced to the guests.

Besides Forever Enthralled, the other six films, which are all newly produced films and well known in China will be showed at Cinema Pathé in The Hague and Delft in the next two days.
