Ambassador Zhang Jun Attends the Exhibition on Chinese and Dutch Impression in Maritime Art

On 22nd January, Ambassador Zhang Jun was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the exhibition on Chinese and Dutch impression in Maritime Art. Mr.Henk Kool, the vice mayor of the Hague, and other guests from the municipal government of the Hague, the Western-Holland Foreign Investment Bureau, the friendship Association of the Netherlands and China, and etc., also attended the exhibition.

The Ambassador first expressed his thanks to the host—Seaman Foundation, for its effort for holding the exhibition and its contribution for promoting the exchanges between the Chinese and Dutch artists. He pointed out that culture can be a bridge and it brings closer the distance between peoples. The subject Maritime may easily generate inspiration and resonance from both artists and people of the two countries. What Seaman Foundation is doing not only provides a platform for exchanges between Chinese and Dutch artists, but also opens a window for the communication between the peoples of the two countries. He emphasized that, with more and more cultural exchanges, people of the two countries will understand each other better, trust each other better. Hence, the bilateral relationship will be further strengthened.

The Ambassador also expressed his appreciation to the municipal government of The Hague for its contribution in promoting the bilateral cultural exchanges. He said that thanks to the joint efforts of both sides, cultural exchange has become a very important part in the relations between the city of The Hague and China. With more and more Chinese cultural elements being introduced to the people of The Hague, the Chinese culture brings more color and happiness to the life of the local people, and highlights the cultural diversity of the city. Finally, the Ambassador expressed his wish that with the on-going momentum of cultural exchange, cooperation between China and the Netherlands will be further broadened and deepened.

The exhibition was hosted by Seaman Foundation of the Netherlands, and about 80 pieces of art works from 6 Chinese and 8 Dutch artists have been exhibited.
