On May 13, Vice President Li Yuanchao met with President Diosdado Cabello of Venezuelan National Assembly in Caracas on his official visit to Venezuela.

Li Yuanchao said that as an important country in Latin America, Venezuela is playing an increasingly significant role in international and regional affairs. China-Venezuela relations have entered the stage of comprehensive rapid development in recent years. The two countries have maintained frequent high-level exchanges and deepened political mutual trust. The mutually beneficial cooperation in energy, finance, agriculture, infrastructure construction and high-tech has been fruitful, bringing about tangible benefits to people of both countries. The cultural and people-to-people exchanges have been increasingly frequent. The two sides support and coordinate with each other in international affairs. The two peoples have become good reliable friends and good partners of sincere cooperation. Both as developing countries, China and Venezuela are faced with the common task of developing economy and improving the livelihood of people. Further promoting mutually beneficial and friendly cooperation between the two countries serves the fundamental interests of both countries and peoples. China stands ready to make joint efforts with Venezuela to build a better future of China-Venezuela relations.

Li Yuanchao said that friendly exchanges and cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries have been an important part of bilateral relations. It is believed that the legislative bodies of two countries will continue to maintain high-level exchanges, expand exchanges and cooperation, and contribute to China-Venezuela friendship.

Cabello said that Venezuela and China established strategic partnership of common development in 2001, and bilateral relations have developed rapidly, thanks to the joint care and promotion of President Chavez and Chinese leaders. The remarkable achievements of bilateral cooperation are of great importance to the two peoples. Venezuela hopes to maintain the sound momentum of development of bilateral relations and carry out comprehensive, in-depth and mutually beneficial cooperation with China in areas of energy, agriculture and finance. Venezuela is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries and expects to exchange experience on state governance with China .
