Assistant Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping Attends the Kyrgyz National Pavilion Day at the Shanghai World Expo

On August 4, 2010, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Cheng Guoping, as representative of the Chinese side, attended the Kyrgyz National Pavilion Day at the Shanghai World Expo together with Kyrgyzstan’s Economic Development Minister Emil Umetaliev in the Shanghai Expo Center. Both sides held a friendly meeting. Cheng said both countries are friendly neighbors. China attaches great importance to developing ties with Kyrgyzstan and will continue to enhance bilateral political trust, deepen cooperation in all areas and push bilateral good-neighborliness and friendly cooperation for sound and stable development based on the principles of mutual respect, equality and mutual benefit. Umetaliev said that Kyrgyzstan cherishes very much the traditional friendship with China and thanks for China’s long-standing disinterested help and support to Kyrgyzstan. He said his country is ready to further consolidate good-neighborliness and friendship with China, expand cooperation on economy, trade, investment, transportation, security and humanities and keep closer coordination within the UN, the SCO and other multilateral frameworks in a bid to lift bilateral ties to a new level.
