Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Jiang Yu's Remarks on the Recent Adoption of the Tibet-Related Resolution by the US Senate
2008/09/22

Q: It is reported that the US Senate has recently adopted a so-called resolution, calling on the Dalai Lama and the Chinese Government to step up dialogues on the rights of Tibetan people. Could you comment?

A: Issues of Tibet are totally internal affairs of China and so are the Chinese Government's contacts and consultations with the Dalai Lama. China firmly opposes US Senate's adoption of the Tibet-related resolution which interferes into China's internal affairs.

We urge the US Senate to abide by the fundamental norms governing international relations, stop supporting and conniving with the separatist forces of "Tibet independence" and stop making erroneous remarks and taking actions that interfere into China's internal affairs and undermine China-U.S. relations.
