On January 25, the Chinese Embassy in the Netherlands and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra jointly held the 2025 “Happy Chinese New Year” Concert. Ambassador Tan Jian, Managing Director of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra Mr. Dominik Winterling, the Secretary-General of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, heads of the OPCW, Dutch government officials, and representatives from Chinese and Dutch communities—over 200 attendees—participated in the event.
Ambassador Tan Jian extended Chinese New Year greetings to the guests. He noted that in December last year, the Spring Festival was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list, allowing more countries to understand the cultural essence of the Chinese New Year.
Tan recalled that two days ago, Ding Xuexiang, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, successfully visited the Netherlands, marking a “good start” for China-Netherlands high-level exchanges in 2025. China and the Netherlands will continue to strengthen high-level interactions and promote people-to-people exchanges.
Tan highlighted that China has always advocated true multilateralism and inclusive economic globalization, working together to build a community with a shared future for mankind. In 2025, China and Europe should seize the opportunity of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations to strengthen cooperation and jointly address challenges such as climate change, health, and artificial intelligence.
